The Vision-Execution Gap–Crack or Chasm?

October 15, 2010

Vision is the driving force behind innovation and the creation of new business opportunities, as well as a critical component for organizational change. It can be generalized that many visionary leaders lack the native skills to focus on the details necessary for successful execution. On the other hand, many detail or task oriented leaders often lack vision. Both are required for success. In your opinion, what other critical skills or attributes (at least two) are required to successfully execute a vision? (Assumption: perfect world scenario, all required resources are available.) Is vision a gift (something you’re born with) or a skill (something you can learn)?
